. . . unconventional sounds: airy lead lines, low-rumbling squawks, and metallic squeaks and clicks all find their place in the upbeat production. – XLR8R
. . . the ingenious composition team of drummer Nick Schofield and saxophonist Dave Switchenko combined those pieces to exceed the sum of their parts. – Exclaim!
Saxsyndrum will never cease to be interesting, and splitting themselves in half, so to speak, was an unexpected trick that makes SXD_EP work so well. – Grayowl Point
SXD sees Saxsyndrum at odds, with Schofield and Switchenko splitting the EP down the middle. Schofield’s drum side brings the listener into a geological expedition of percussion, bringing out the hidden musicality of the rhythm section. The saxophone side explores the instrument’s complete sonic landscape as Switchenko crafts his musical palette with every facet of his instrument from the reed to the keys.
